The first 6C fast-charging lithium iron phosphate battery will be installed on vehicles next year after charging for 5 minutes and lasting 200 kilometers
SAIC-GM and CATL jointly launched the world’s first 6C ultra-fast charging lithium iron phosphate battery, which can add more than 200 kilometers of driving range to the vehicle in 5 minutes. 6C means that the battery can be fully charged in 10 minutes. The battery is expected to be mass-produced next year and installed in pure electric vehicles. The battery cells are produced by CATL, and the modules and battery packs are completed by SAIC-GM. The launch of this fast charging technology is to compete with market competitors, especially BYD’s fast charging battery technology.
